July 12th and A Hint of Things to Come

Today is The Twelfth in Ireland also known as Orangeman’s Day. This commemorates the victory of the Protestant King over the Catholic King in the Battle of the Boyne.

Normally, such a thing would not get noticed outside of the countries that celebrate it. There have been instances of violence against non Protestants over the years but things have changed to where Northern Ireland is trying to make things more family friendly.

This year is getting a lot of notice though. On the eleventh night, the tradition is to burn a bonfire. Given the problems that Ireland has been having with Muslims, this year an effigy of a mosque was set on the bonfire. Normally, there would be pearl clutching, screechings about “islamaphobia” and assurances that this wasn’t who we are from the talking heads. This time, the protests are getting ignored and the effigy was put to the torch.

So why does this matter so much? It’s showing that a lot of people are tired of being in fear of “migrants” who contribute nothing but demands and threats. It’s warning the political class that they need to take care of their people instead of fawning over invaders. And with the rise of independent media, it’s going to show the world that liberty is still worth fighting for.

Mind you, it could also be another excuse to drink. So Happy Twelfth everyone.
