Over the last few months, so called white allies have been speaking up and out on the fact that “black lives matter”. Unbeknownst to them, they use the exact same rhetoric that white supremacist groups use.  And, are reinforcing the very racism they think they are against.

It is racism to say and believe that white people in America start out in life better off than all other minorities. It is not only offensive but paints all minorities in a corner that they start off having life stacked against them. How is telling us this supposedly different than what white supremacists say? It isn’t. In fact, it is much worse. When one hears what a racist group says we expect it, we can react to it and we can call it out. But when it is our supposed allies that make these claims, it isn’t only shocking that they do not see it, but it is sad.

Minorities are being treated like hapless babies needing a white savior to come fix everything that ails us. In fact, they do not even listen to what we are saying. For example, when George Floyd was murdered the outrage wasn’t holding cops accountable for wrongdoing. White dominating groups like Antifa, over took the narrative to push for defunding the police, taking down of statues and marking streets. None of this addressed the corruption in the Minnesota police and distracted from what minorities actually wanted done. Being someone’s support person isn’t about taking over from them but supporting what they need. White allies have made it known that because they aren’t “those racists” that gives them the right to infiltrate black movements and change the direction and vision. Known racist groups are not in our way like these people. It is these allies that are perpertrating a stereotype that we cannot fend for ourselves. And we never asked for it.

Black people are not a monolithic group needing to be infantilized by white allies. The idea that we are born into oppression is a racist idea and shows that those successful blacks are not paid attention to at all. We have created a dominating music genre, we have many millionaires and we have our own actions to prove that we can achieve anything if we want.

Today’s progressives are coming full circle creating the narrative that black people are automatically at a disadvantage. That is racists. I refuse to believe this nonsense.  And you should as well.
