Birthing Political Pawns

Today (yesterday by the time you read this) on Twitter, there was a post by a man whose 5 year old son Sam came home crying from school one day.  Sam’s parents allowed him to go to school wearing bright red nail polish and, this will come to you as a surprise I’m sure, Sam got made fun of.  Dad is apparently unaware that kids can be cruel and was absolutely appalled at this injustice.  So, instead of protecting his child and letting him know that other kids will probably make fun of him for wearing nail polish if he wears it to school, he sends him off to kindergarten to be tormented so daddy can brag to his twitter friends.  Daddy goes on a 20 tweet screed, ending with him flipping off the cruel, cruel world, with the ugliest-ass shade of, I dunno, I guess silver(?) nail polish on finger.  (As a side note, and not to blame this poor kid for the lack on judgement on his parents part, but there was a tweet in the rant (it was so “raw” for dad) I find interesting.  This kid is apparently a terror.  His dad admits it.  What if he’s the bully but when he showed up wearing nail polish, the kids he used to tease had more help?  ANYWAY…….)

I am getting really tired of people using their kids as political pawns.  I see comments all the time about how someone’s kid is “so woke” or how they see something and it makes them think of something political.  Why?  Why are these people not letting kids be kids?  Even worse is when the publicize whatever it is, essentially thrusting their own kids into the spotlight for some SJW street cred.

It’s pathetic.
