Depends on the Definition of the Word “Fact”

Ahh PolitiFact…the facts still elude you.

As more details of The Clinton Foundation’s financials come to light, the progressive defense of all things Clinton gets more and more creative. The newest finding that only 15% of the foundation’s income actually goes to charity, and the other 85% goes to salaries, travel expenses, and “other expenses” has left leaning journalists scrambling to justify this information and spinsplain it as hunky-dory-ay-okay-nothing-to-see-here. See…rational human beings would be appalled at these numbers, expecting them to be reversed. Not Clinton-ites though!

A perfect example of this is PolitiFact’s rating of “Mostly False” for Rush Limbaugh and the Federalist recently making hay of The Clinton Foundation’s skewed spending. Ya see…according to PolitiFact, the Clinton Foundation uses an “unusual model” for charity work. Where most foundations are expected to spend–and do spend–the majority of moneys they receive for actual charity and donations because, ya know…it’s how a charity is supposed to work, this special snowflake of a foundation says it does most of its charitable work in-house. And we all know how trustworthy the Clinton’s are when they say stuff. Louis Jacobson of PolitiFact writes:

There’s a grain of truth here — roughly 85 percent of the foundation’s spending was for items other than charitable grants to other organizations, and a large chunk of this 85 percent did go to Clinton Foundation staff for travel, salaries and benefits. However, the foundation says it does most of its charitable work in-house, and it’s not credible to think that the foundation spent zero dollars beyond grants on any charitable work, which is what it would take for Limbaugh to be correct.

If you ignore the real numbers and instead use the equation:

85% + what Clinton says – a 10-stick / 2 x bananas = Totes Legit

Surely you can see how the ever-factual facty-fact non-biased PolitiFact came to the conclusion that Rush and the Federalist are mostly liars for reporting the actual facts and expecting The Clinton Foundation to be held to the same standards that other foundations are held to.

PolitiFact should change it’s name to PolitiProgSpin.
