EPA Admission/Disclaimer window sticker

Our first submission by MyrmidoNOT

Thanks, swabbie! Don’t let it be the last one.

The new truck I recently purchased new, had this sticker pasted onto the window. It is most telling:

Since the normally aspirated V-8 may ingest the high-alcohol E-85, the data is pocketbook-blowing!

First, I’m getting 21 to 22 MPG highway, during the break-in (burning premium ethanol, up to 10% alcohol). In town, it’s getting between 16 and 19 MPG if I drive cautiously (if I drive a bit more aggressively, that falls off to 12 to 14 MPG).

Second, I have NOT located pure gasoline (yet)….so I can only report on E-10 (which some pumps are labeled as: …up to” 10%).

Third, the ten-speed automatic is the prime reason for this rather impressive fuel economy from a Ford F-150 which has a hard tonneau cover.

The conversation I would really like to stoke is the second line…..concerning E-85…..labeled Driving Range. It appears that if I could locate E-85, that I would use 30% more “alcohol laced fuel” (to get 30%+ LESS mileage)!! Such a deal.

If that doesn’t pollute more, please explain it to me. (( …and yes, I know, E-85 may also be “up to” 85% alcohol….but typically won’t be… ))

Discuss amongst yourselves…. This should be a hoot!

Thank you for your time!
