Its takes more to be #1

A lot of companies try to compete with Chick Fil A by creating there own sandwich. They saw the popularity of the Popeyes sandwich and the car lines wrapped around the building for that new sandwich. The competition saw that Chick Fil A has long lines everyday, not just during one big push. Again, Chick Fil A is the number 1 fast food restaurant in America beating out competition with one day off. Despite the anti-gay boycotts and the food being pretty basic, Chick Fil A continues to dominate. But why is this important? Because many of the competitors are missing what makes Chick Fil A a success.  Its not just the food. It takes more to be #1.

Companies and customers alike are not attracted to Chick Fil A for what they are selling. Heck, Zaxby’s and Popeyes sandwiches are good. And a few other companies like McDonald’s have stepped it up in making sandwiches that aren’t that bad and can go toe to toe. Then, why do they lose? Customer service. They lose because they only worked on one aspect of the business, the food. People will wait for good food but people will only tolerate bad treatment for so long. All these companies are trying to fix their food when that’s not the main reason people love Chick Fil A, and that is why these chicken commercials mess the mark.

At Chick Fil A, no matter how long the line is, the wait isn’t that long too. They rarely get your order wrong and when they do, they will break their neck to get it right. Fast food that is actually fast, no nasty kitchens, possibilities of getting shot or in a fight, or the dreaded “Pull around” because your order isn’t ready. (All these things are subjective and can happen at a Chick Fil A).

But what is my point? My point is about politics. The Republican Party is constantly told what it can do to be better and the establishment elites consistently ignore the local voters. And it isn’t just recently. In the book. “The Loneliness of the Black Republican” author Leah Wright Riguer lays out that the Republican Party has been told numerous times its issues. There were actual people on the ground that did the work to what Republicans can do better. And like normal, it was ignored.

In fact, there was a report done after the Romney lost in 2012 byTea Party members that is also ignored today. It is ignored so much that an outsider named Trump, hated by both sides won in 2016. He was not supposed to win. And the Swamp worked hard on both sides to ensure in 2020 he wouldn’t. Again, the Republican Party, many who backed Romney and didn’t take the success of Trump serious, relaxed and lost 2020.

Election Fraud or no election fraud, there are serious issues that the Republican Party as an entity  that it refuses to face. They lack the ability to attract independents or even to try to bring libertarians back into the fold. Do Republicans even go after strongly head blue areas and claim to want to flip blue states? Usually, no. They cower and say its a waste of time to go after these “unwinnable areas”.  Yet, they have seats that they lost in Illinois and Virginia that went completely unchallenged. That’s right. They left seats completely opened to be filled by Democrats. They didn’t even try. How is it the commies fault for taking advantage of the right for not showing up? Something needs to change. It takes more to be #1.

The Republican backed pundits keep screaming about how terrible socialism is and how horribly run Democrat areas are don’t get why voters are turning a blind eye. Republicans are not competing for the hearts of voters but use media only to “own” liberals with sound bites. They are not doing more to sell conservatism to people who only had progressive policies for decades. They don’t show these people that they care. Not from a recognizable scale and level that meets the same energy that do for other segments like farmers or evangelicals. They don’t outreach aggressively here as they do in other places, and with genuine care for the people in these places.

Democrats have loyalty to the left. When in doubt, they know that they can at least be catered too. That their culture, interests and desires will at least feel heard. On the other hand, being a member of the GOP is like loving a restaurant that still has a broken ice cream machine and no cares that you want ice cream, customer service sucks. Some of the local GOPs have websites that do not work and phone numbers that are disconnected, trust me I have tried. They have Facebook messenger but do not reply in a timely matter. They don’t have interparty communication within the same state or a program setup between sister cities that reach to more successful GOPs to team up with less built ones to share information.  I know, because we are helping local chapters develop in a few areas.

As the conservatives argue over who is or isn’t welcomed in the Republican Party, who is or isn’t conservative enough and whether race matters; Democrats take any and everyone. They don’t care if you used to work for Trump, they don’t care if you use to work for the opposition news channel, and they don’t care if two seconds ago they hated your guts if you hate the guts of the new guy they hate. Case in point, George W Bush. The left hated his guts. But now, just like they reverenced McCain, they like Bush because they hate Trump more.

Am I saying being more like Democrats? No. But the Republican Party has to act like they give a damn about voters beyond just their normal base. Expanding the tent is not a dirty word. And thanks to Trump, people- not normally considered Republican- are trying the right party out. Screaming every time a non white Evangelical comes into the fold or a non talking point minority shows up, is not helping sell team red. Team Red is doing more today, to push people away  then anyone else. And the establishment thinks that it is better to be in the shadow of Democrats in every aspect! They are doing everything but winning. It is frustrating watching conservatism come through the lens of a Party that seems disinterested in winning the culture for the long-term and years down the road.

We don’t need to just win elections. We need to win culture, win the next generation and we need to make minorities, women and lgtb feel welcomed. And it isn’t pandering to take care to listen to the needs of these people. The Right pretends not to pander when that is a lie.

The Republican party has no issue with catering issues to Farmers, to evangelicals and to Latinos. They support Cubans, Chinese migrants and Israel within their America First mantra. So don’t give me that it is “identity” politics to listen to urban, other religious or secularist groups. Republicans need new strategy to win and new voices to get that message across.

Chick Fil A dominated because it cares about more than just about the food. it cares if the customer has a good time with them. Right now, it seems that the Republican Party cares about donations and screaming about socialism. When will we get it together so we can spread conservativism? Does the Republican Party give a damn at all how the voters feel? It is yet to be seen.

Solutions? Back grassroots organizations and people like Scott Pressler with money and press. Don’t just talk about the issues in certain areas, show up with solutions and give press to local GOPs in these areas putting in the effort. Fight with competing ideas not running to government to ban things that you don’t like. Hold the Republican Party accountable by publicly and vocally pushing back.

Do not run away. Take over by working and supporting a new breed of candidates that don’t just ask for donations but lay out policy plans to get stuff done. Stop making excuses for pundits who insult American voters and play into racist stereotypes about the party.

If we want to dominate, we have to think and do differently. We cannot rely only on claims of voter fraud and screaming about commie to save us. There is no political savior coming to make things right. It takes WE THE PEOPLE to get up and go out to do the work.

Have a #1 mindset and go out there and get it done.
