I knew 2020 would be an interesting year, because 2016 was a precursor to how election years go. But, boy did I not expect the tricks and lies that we’ve been told. From fudging numbers during the pandemic to flat out false narratives surrounding police shooting, 2020 should be the year of the lie. But, it isn’t the American people’s fault. It is the media. They play clips, withhold context and simply lie. They have whipped the American public up in a frenzy and we are supposed to be fighting for team blue or team red. The crazy thing is that Americans were gaslit by the media and it is utter trash how they’ve gotten away with it.
It is pretty obvious that the media hates Donald Trump. But would you like the media to like you? Even in so-called helping, they lie. Take Breonna Taylor for example. The media claims to want to get justice for her “murder” and yet spread lies even I was dumb enough to believe. The narrative is that she was in her bed asleep and was shot dead with her eyes closed. Nope. She was in the hallway with her boyfriend who fired a shot blindy to his front door causing cops to return fire. Was their negligence from one officer shooting aimless, possibly. But the narrative we got was that she was asleep and was innocently murdered. We didn’t even know her boyfriend even fired until his arrest. Local residents made up the grand jury that didn’t file charges over Breonna’s death. It wasn’t the prosecutor who decided against it, it was the grand jury. Who knows what evidence they heard that differed from us. Yes, people are blaming the AG and calling him racial slurs because he followed the law. He didn’t get a fair shake because the public’s minds were made up on falsehoods. Sounds a little like the fake hands up don’t shoot lie, doesn’t it? This is egregiously dishonest and dangerous.
It honestly doesn’t matter who you vote for. It matters what the MSM will talk about. Even on social media big named celebrities with huge platforms get information wrong. Remember Jussie Smollet? So many big actors, athletes and entertainers rushed to judgement about his alleged racial and homophobic attack. It was the news that slowly trickled out information as if they were helping him lie. Even non Trump supporters knew he never was attacked by MAGA hat wearing racists. Yet, the interview with Smollet and the commentary afterward was supposed to piss us off.
How more peaceful would Americans be if we weren’t gaslit by our media. It is the media that play dangerous stereotypes of minorities and down play good actions by us. It is the media that plays up angry white women that attack any and everyone. The majority of Americans are not like how we are portrayed by the MSM and yet, Americans are upset about things that did not happen.
President Trump did not say that neo nazis were very fine people. The news outlets cut the part when he verbally said that he didn’t mean neo nazis and that they should definitely be condemned. HIs comment was that there were people on both sides of the issue about whether to take down Confederate Statues or not. He wasn’t making the argument for neo nazis. This is a lie that the Biden camp has played over and over again with the help of the media.
Michelle Obama got a taste of this when a lie spread about her saying how she was finally proud of this country. She never said that. But meme after meme keeps showing her with that quote and it is incorrect. But who has time to fact check every meme that they encounter? That is why meme makers and the media can set fire to American conversations over politics. It isn’t us average folks or even the online trolls causing chaos. It’s the people that job rests on reporting events as they happen, not reporting what they wish happened.
I for one would like to apologize if I said something in error because of misinformation. It is my duty as a voting citizen to fact check the information I receive. Having talked to a diverse group of political commentators, I learned that there is a lot lost in translation.
We Americans need to stop watching these shows and reading these papers that lie to us. It has us filled with rage and hate for no good reason. They don’t pay the cost of getting things wrong and gaslighting us to tear down our neighborhood. We the people are supposed to be in charge, we need to act like it.
