Shut up–It Ain’t a Wolf

By DJH

It seems that recently, a major amount of people on social media, the Left, the Right (most notably the still NeverTrump community) and in the press have taken on this apocalyptic view on Trump. And because of it- they throw out so many stories and things with their outrage meters set at one billion.

A perfect example? Then-US Senator and member of the Armed Services Committee Jeff Sessions called and had meetings with the Russian Ambassador to the United States, Sergey Kislyak, twice in September. The outrage is because he didn’t tell Al Franken he placed the calls. The problem with that is Franken asked about calls involving the election. Which we can’t even prove Sessions did call Sergey about.

So… This outrage is over a call that Sessions had, something most US Senators partake in? Yeah it really isn’t uncommon for US Senators to talk to ambassadors to the US. Especially if they’re on committees involved in foreign affairs.

Look- I don’t know what Sessions did. I don’t really care, if I’m honest here. Russia didn’t interfere with our election. Sessions calling and meeting with a foreign nation’s Ambassador is likely nothing more than a US Senator doing what he’s supposed to do. And it really is unlikely he actually called the Ambassador about the election- WHICH IS WHAT THE FREAKING QUESTION WAS ABOUT!!!!!!! Should he have mentioned he met, just not about the elections? Yes. Does he matter that he didn’t? In reality no.

But of course- outrage is over 9,000 here. Someone does anything in the Trump administration and death and despair are the new norm in America.

Another example. Betsy DeVos publishes a statement where she praises HBCUs for giving school choice to blacks. And she’s praising Jim Crow era laws.

Or how about all the Obama-era appointees quitting, and people talking about how bad it is in the administration?

Maybe part of the problem here is the outrage meter is so high so often, that this stupid crap doesn’t even affect people like me.

I’ve often said that the best tale to read for someone interested in politics is “The Boy who Cried Wolf”. The story is one of my favorites, and is sadly extremely important in today’s political world. From people claiming racism, sexism, bigotry, whateverphobia, to “ZOMG THE NATION IS ENDING HELP HELP WTF HAVE WE DONE OMG OMG OMG OMG!!!!” it appears that most of the nation hasn’t read it. The sad thing is- the people who most need to read it are the members of the “Elite Class” and people who just don’t want to accept the view of someone else or who don’t want to open their minds to maybe being wrong on something. These people need it the most. And they aren’t reading it because whatever reasons.

The problem is- if/when Trump does something really bad, the outrage will have been on 11 for so long nobody will give a damn.

“OMG TRUMP ______, THIS IS HORRIBLE!!!”

“OK- what else is new from you? You’ve never done anything but demean everything he does, so how is this time different?”

Look- even I’m beginning to turn into a Trump fan. And that’s odd to say. I don’t even agree with him on some major issues. But people constantly acting like everything he does is a threat to the nation and making way for the KKK and Nazis to rule America are pissing me off, and they’re pissing a lot of people off.

Also- AMERICA FIRST ISN’T #$%^ING RACIST! It is a campaign slogan and a saying for people who want our nation to be first and foremost above all others. THAT IS IT! Yes, I know about the whole nationalist past. But much like the word racist to the Left- the term has changed quite a bit. It is now just a slogan for America above all other nations, and a common campaign slogan.

Finally- it is extremely disappointing that this is being typed out by a $%^^ing 18 year old to fully grown adults- some who are IN THE FREAKING UNITED STATES CONGRESS.
