INDIANA TURNS 200!!!

200 years ago today, December 11, 1816, Indiana officially became a state in the Republic of the United States of Indiana.

Indiana has been doing a lot to celebrate this Bi-Centennial all year. If you watched the most famous race in all of America last Memorial Day weekend, you picked up on it. It was the official 100th running of the Indianapolis 500, which originally started as a simple car race to celebrate the Centennial celebration of Indiana becoming a state.

A torch relay marathon has been ran the entire year, with a torch being ran through every county in the Great State of Indiana. (Where was June?)

You can find a great deal of info surrounding the celebration at this website: http://www.in.gov/ibc/

Indiana is considered to be “officially” settled in 1733, and joined the Republic in 1816, becoming the 19th official State of these United States. How many knew at the time we would go on to be a Nation of 50 states?

Let Freedom Ring!!!!!

Here is Jim Nabors singing “Back Home Again In Indiana” for the last time in 2014 at the Indianapolis 500 race:
