News Flash, Professors…It’s Not Really YOUR Classroom

As most of you probably know, as of last week, Texas is allowing licensed gun owners to carry on college campuses. The law is pretty clear: University presidents can designate some areas “gun free,” but they cannot designate so many areas as “gun free” so as to essentially make the entire campus “gun free.” For example: The president can’t okay gun toting in the hallways but ban them in the classroom.

Well, three University of Texas professors, Mia Carter, Jennifer Glass, and Lisa Moore, have filed a lawsuit to temporarily block campus carry.

Glass, Carter and Moore say forcing them to allow guns in their classrooms violates their rights to free speech, due process and equal protection. They also argue that campus carry violates their Second Amendment rights “by compelling them as public employees to passively acquiesce in the presence of loaded weaponry in their place of public employment without the individual possession and use of such weaponry in public being well-regulated.”

To the professors, I’d first I’d like to say…HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Second. It’s not your classroom. You don’t own it. You are only allowed to use it as a condition of your employment at the university. You’re not even really in charge of anything other than what you teach on whatever subject you teach. The university president is in charge.

Third. Wut? How could the law possibly violate any of the rights you stated?

Fourth. In the progressive left’s own words regarding laws, (see Obamacare) “It’s the law. Deal with it.”

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s response:

AG Paxton filed a legal brief on Monday stating:

“Faculty members are aware that state law provides that guns can be carried on campus, and that the president has not made a rule excluding them from classrooms,” attorneys representing the University of Texas at Austin and Attorney General Ken Paxton wrote in a legal brief filed Monday. “As a result, any individual professor who attempts to establish such prohibition is subject to discipline.”

If the professors lose this fight, and they should, I can’t wait to hear their little proggy heads explode.
