(OK a day late but things have been busy.)
On 07/13/24, an assassin attempted to take the life of then-Candidate Trump. Had his head been turned in a slightly different direction, he would have been killed. The moment after when he stood with his fist raised and chanted “FIGHT!” was the boost that put him well ahead of Harris.
Now here we are a year later. There have been setbacks along with victories in our nation. We are still divided almost as harshly as we were during his last term and short of the Second Coming, I have no answers on how to heal that. But I have seen a lot of good with this second term. This is the first time I can remember where there has been an actual attempt to address out of control government spending and unaccountable programs. Honest questions about how to secure our borders and put us on a path to energy independence are being asked and things are being done.
I am grateful that we live in a nation where assassinating political rivals is seen as abhorrent by most and not something to be done by civilized people. May such things continue to be viewed that way regardless of who is at the helm.
