The Glass Half Full

Here’s another post from Mrs. Pinky!

Americans are tired of the U.S. always digging up history we can not change. No one says this stuff about our flag or symbols at significant times like when they drape our dead coffins in our United flags. These flags being the only have memories some have left of their dead family or friends.

Yes, our history is not perfect but that’s not why we pledge allegiance to the flag or stand for the anthem.

As you decide to sit during these because you feel people are oppressed, you refuse to respect the millions upon millions of Americans who do the right thing each and every day. You don’t look at the glass half full, but half empty.

The doctors saving lives, security providing protection, and the soldier standing watch. These people deserve that we stand. Its about gratitude. That widow who sits as her love is being lowered into the ground is handed that flag. Should she toss it aside? If America is so horrible, why do people still waive flags from countries they left or a continent they never been too?

No one who stands in respect for America or says they are proud of America doesn’t do so blindly ignoring her flaws and mistakes. But interestingly, many march to be accepted for who they are. Can you accept America for who she is? Can you accept that America is at least trying while other countries still murder people that don’t conform?

This country is great for the simple fact that we can even discuss this. That I as a black female am even allowed to have an opinion when women are murdered in other countries for even speaking without a man right now.

No one who respects our history ignores the horror or expects to forget what goes on here. But I’m so tired of America taking it on the chin when no country is guiltless or no people. Native Americans fought amongst themselves too. People of color are killing other people of color in Africa right now.

I believe it is the right of every American to decide to respect our nation or not. In fact, it is what I love most about her. I don’t want some North Korea worshipping the nation state. But, I have the same right to dislike it!

I find it interesting those who want to protest America are the same individuals who support and vote for a bloating and overreaching socialist big government. How is it, you loathe the symbols of the same country that you give its government too much power over the people to at every election?

Forget do nothing gestures like not standing. Why aren’t you voting with your feet or dollars to shrink the government in our lives intruding in everything it has no business in? You want big brother to respect that you don’t like its traditions but you will grow its power? This makes no sense.

When America fails to be the very country her people do not want anymore, the unintended consequences will be felt far worse than any “oppression” supposedly felt today.

The glass is half full when it comes to America if you choose to see it.
