Seattle School Clinics Offer More Than Just Bandaids

If you aren’t homeschooling or thinking about homeschooling your child(ren), you should be. If you can’t or don’t want to homeschool but can afford to enroll your child(ren) in private school, you should do that. Like right now. Today.

Our education system is in total free-fall despite the gobs of tax money we spend under the illusion of improving it. Flotus is dictating what our children can and cannot eat at school. Schools are barely able to discipline anymore for fear of being sued, so disruptive children continue to be disruptive. If none of that encourages you to homeschool or run screaming to the nearest private school, maybe this will.

13 year old girl: I’d like a soda please.
School: NO!
13 year old girl: Can I get an IUD?
School: Well of course you can, dear. Here’s your hall pass.

According to CNSNews.com, several middle and high schools in Seattle, WA, now offer long-acting reversible contraceptives (LARCs), including IUDs and hormonal implants to children as young as 6th graders. Yay! And guess what? It’s free! And by free they mean taxpayer funded. Double yay-yay! Oh! And one more thing! No parental consent needed! Woohoo! Triple yay-yay-yay!!!!!!1111Eleventy!!!!!!

Are you scared now? Maybe this will push you over the edge: according to a 2014 study by the University of Washington, researchers found that “school-based health providers often cited their lack of formal training not only in inserting or removing IUDs and contraceptive implants, but also with the procedures in general.”

So while you can’t send your kid to school with an aspirin because they might OD, you can take comfort in the fact that someone with minimal experience and training might be inserting an IUD into your daughter.
