Armed Forces Day

Today, Saturday, May 16th, 2015, is Armed Forces Day. President Harry S. Truman issued the first Armed Forces Day proclamation in 1950, and the occasion has been recognized on every third Saturday of May since then.

We here at Freedom Reconnection know full well that it is because of those who serve and protect the United States from threats foreign and domestic that we are allowed to exercise our freedoms like no other country in history has. In the words of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, “It is fitting and proper that we devote one day each year to paying special tribute to those whose constancy and courage constitute one of the bulwarks guarding the freedom of this nation and the peace of the free world.”

So on behalf of a grateful nation, we honor all the men and women of our armed forces who keep us safe. We appreciate all that you have done and continue to do for the citizens of this great land. Thank you.
