Should A Two-Time Sex Offender Get A Third Chance?

I have long since thought that our judicial system isn’t harsh enough on predators–predators being those who prey on the weak…children, elderly, disabled. If given a second chance, they inevitably reoffend.

A perfect example of this is a 35-year-old man in Oregon who was sentenced yesterday to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to first-degree sex abuse and attempted rape. The man had previously served time for first-degree rape. I’ll link the story at the end of this post, but the gist of it is that he beat and raped his 82-year-old grandmother. His grandmother!!! And he sexually assaulted his 49-year-old uncle. Fifteen years??? That’s all he got? His first jail sentence for rape obviously didn’t rehabilitate him since he used his second chance at freedom to rape his elderly grandmother. Why give him a third chance? Lock him up and throw away the key!

Here’s the story.

People like this don’t deserve second chances, much less a third.
